RV Camping Information

Greetings RV Campers! The following is information about RV camping at Michigan. Please read it rvarrivalover and feel free to call us if you have any additional questions about what to expect when you wheel into the Festival, ready to camp for the week.

RV camping space is reserved for womyn camping in recreational vehicles, sleeping vans, trucks with camper shells, camper trailers and pop-up camper tents. There is limited space for womyn who want to camp in their regular vehicles, but only for womyn who are actually sleeping in their vehicles. No tents are allowed, and all vehicles in RV must stay parked for your entire Festival stay. The campground is located before the entrance to the tent camping areas of the land, in a large meadow and field that is accessible to the Festival internal road system and shuttle. There are no water or electrical hook-ups available on the Festival site, and we have no sewage facilities. Generators may be used between the hours of 8am and 10pm and for increments of no longer than 1 hour.

* Please Note: We cannot accommodate RV/Pop-up rental companies dropping off and/or picking up rental RV’s from the Festival site. If you are renting an RV, you need to pick it up at the rental location or rendezvous with the rental company outside of the Festival, enter the Festival through the Front Gate with the RV, and depart from the land with the RV when you leave.

We have created camping rows that can fit different size campers, and organized the area so that these camping spots are accessible by driving lanes an RV can handle. RV parking spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis. If you plan to camp next to friends, it’s a good idea to try and arrive together. Please do not block off areas to save for later arriving RV’s.

Tents are a realistic safety concern in an area with large moving vehicles, and though we’re very sorry that this inconveniences womyn who want to RV and tent next to one another, our concern for safety has to come first. Many RV campers are renting their rigs and are unfamiliar with driving them, and some of them are BIG.

We also have some space constraints, since RV is situated from the Festival entrance with the general parking lot first, a tree break, RV camping, then thick woods. We ask that womyn detach their camper trailers and pop-ups and return their vehicle to the parking lot, to allow as much room as possible for camping units. This campground is meant for womyn who are camping in a recreational vehicle, sleeping van, truck with camper shell, camper trailer or pop-up camper tent, and we want to keep a quiet, safe camping environment in this campground. Cars in the parking lot can come and go without disturbing other campers, but the RV area is a non-mobile camping area. We ask that RV campers plan your supplies and come prepared to be set for the week once you arrive. And we’re sorry, but camp fires, even in self contained fire pits, are not allowed in the RV Area.

All of these guidelines have evolved for only one reason - to create a safe, comfortable and fun RV camping experience for any womon who wants to wheel in to Michigan.

Some Helpful Hints for New RV Womyn:

If you’re new to RV camping or you’re just not familiar with the unit you’re bringing, read on for some helpful hints.

What to bring:
  • Wood to level your RV with. Flat 2 by 4’s work well. They sink into the ground, so be sure they’re free of nails, recyclable and disposable.
  • Wagon or cart to carry water
  • Water jugs
  • Rugs outside keep down the amount of dirt inside
  • Fix-a-flat
  • Extra fuses, bulbs, etc. that pertain to your unit
  • Clothesline
  • Duct tape
  • Hammer
  • Gas for external generators
  • Wrenches
  • Level

Arrive with your water and gas tanks full, and your holding tanks emptied. Muskegon State Park is a nice station for filling beforehand and dumping afterwards. (A daily permit must be purchased in order to use these services.)

Renters: Look over the contract concerning damages, flat tires, tow truck services, emergency contact numbers, and what you are liable for. If you’re paying mileage charges by the mile, don’t forget to tabulate your mileage. Again, we cannot accommodate RV rental companies dropping off or picking up rental RV’s from the Festival. Please see the note above.
